Julia Michaels – 17 Lyrics

Play this song

[Verse 1]
I had a dream we were riding in a drop top down the block
Taking our time doing whatever we want
You put your hand on top of my hand
And just like Grease, we were summer loving
Had our first kiss and we hit the ground running, ah
You put your hand on top of my hand

[Pre-Chorus]
No dark side for us
No fights just because
No silence that kills, ah
No, no sleepless nights
Oh, just you and I
I love how love feels

[Chorus]
So can we stay in this dream like we are 17?
Making love and getting high, you and me
Where we never get angry or bitter or lonely
Can we stay in this dream like we are 17?

[Verse 2]
Where we keep goin’ nonstop down the block
Sneaking our way into every single club
And I have one too many I think
And this thing we have, we didn’t know what was it
We didn’t know we could get messed up from it
And all we really wanted was

[Pre-Chorus]
Ah-ha, babe
No sleepless nights
Oh, just you and I
I miss how that feels

[Chorus]
So can we stay in this dream like we are 17?
Making love and getting high, you and me
Where we never get angry or bitter or lonely
Can we stay in this dream like we are 17?

[Post-Chorus]
Pin you down, kiss me now
We can go in for another round
Pin you down, come kiss me now
Pin you down, kiss me now
We can go in for another round
Pin you down, come kiss me now

[Bridge]
I had a dream that we danced at a crosswalk, down the block
Didn’t even care that we made the traffic stop
You put your hand on top of my hand

[Chorus]
So can we stay in this dream like we are 17? (Can we stay?)
Making love and getting high, you and me (Can we, baby?)
Where we never get angry or bitter or lonely
(Where we never get, oh)
Can we stay in this dream like we are 17?

[Post-Chorus]
Pin you down, kiss me now
We can go in for another round (We can go in, babe)
Pin you down, come kiss me now (Pin you down right now)
Pin you down, kiss me now
We can go in for another round
Pin you down, come kiss me now

Can JAY-Z Take Home The “Song of The Year” Grammy ?

Can JAY-Z take home the covetous Song of the Year Grammy award at the 60th Grammy’s?

Last year gave rise to numerous smash hits but unfortunately only one can take home the Grammy for Song of The Year. JAY-Z had a big comeback year with a classic album 4:44 which gave rise to the title track of the same name. The album was one of soul searching and admission by JAY-Z, as well as, education about money and investments and even the younger generation paused and listen to the OG speaking on a record that will go down in history as one of his best body of work to date. JAY-Z lead the Grammy nominations with eight nods with Kendrick Lamar right behind him with seven.

Whether or not he will win the Song of the Year Grammy is still up for debate, because he has some stiff competition since last year was a big year for music. Hov is one of five artists nominated for Song of the Year for his single “4:44”. The other contenders are Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber “Decpacito”, Julia Michaels with her single “Issues”, Logic featuring Alessia Cara & Khalid with “1-800-273-8255” and Bruno Mars “That’s What I Like”.

Despacito is the 3rd Spanish-language song in the history to make number 1 on the Billboard chart since “Macarena” in 1996 and before, was “os Lobos’s” in 1987. Despacito is not only one of the most popular song of 2017, it streamed 8.9 billion streams across platforms such as iTunes, Amazon Music, Spotify etc, with 4.3 billion of those streams from YouTube. It has received Latin Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Urban Fusion/Performance, and Best Short Form Music Video at the 18th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. “Despacito” was ranked the fifth best Latin song of all time in 2017 by Billboard and held a position in the top ten songs of the year by Time, Billboard and Rolling Stone.

Jay-Z is among the rappers who have been rocking up the Grammy awards, should he win a trophy for “4:44”, he will move up the ladder as one of the most awarded artists in the history of the Grammy’s.
